1. CFA Exam Structure: 3 Levels, 3 Steps
To earn the CFA charter, you must pass three sequential exams. Each level requires approximately 300+ hours of study:
- Level I (Knowledge and Comprehension): Focuses on the tools and concepts of investment valuation, ethical standards, and financial reporting. The format is entirely multiple-choice. (Held in February, May, August, and November).
- Level II (Analysis and Valuation): Dives deeper into the analysis of financial data and asset valuation (equities, bonds, etc.). Questions are presented in “item sets” (case-based scenarios).
- Level III (Application and Management): Focuses on portfolio management and wealth planning. The format includes both item sets and constructed response (essay) questions.

The CFA curriculum is updated annually and covers the following 10 core topics:

3. Enrollment Requirements (2025 Update)
To register for the exam, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be a University Graduate: A degree in any field is sufficient.
- Be a University Student: You can take the Level I exam if your graduation date is within 23 months.
- Work Experience: A combination of 4,000 hours of professional work experience and/or higher education (completed over a minimum of 3 years).
- Passport: A valid international travel passport is mandatory for registration and exam entry.
4. Costs and Process
As of 2025, estimated costs are as follows:
- One-time Enrollment Fee: ~$350 (Paid upon initial entry into the program).
- Registration Fee (Per Level): ~$990 for early registration; ~$1,290 for standard registration.
- Total Cost: Between $3,500 and $4,500 if all levels are passed on the first attempt.
