Prometric is a global organisation providing computer-based testing (CBT - Computer Based Testing) services, with thousands of test centres in more than 180 countries worldwide. It is not an exam type in itself, but a test delivery centre that organises the exams of many international institutions in a secure environment.
It is generally used for licensing and certification exams in medicine, healthcare, IT, finance and academia.

Health and Medical Exams
They are mandatory especially for healthcare professionals who want to work abroad (Gulf countries, the USA, Europe).
- USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination)
- The exams that those who want to practise medicine in the USA must take (Step 1 and Step 2 CK).
- DHA / MOHAP
- Licensing exams required to work as a nurse, doctor or pharmacist in Dubai and the other emirates of the United Arab Emirates. (The DOH exam for Abu Dhabi — formerly HAAD — is delivered by Pearson VUE.)
- OET (Occupational English Test)

2. Exam Process and Security
Prometric centres are very strict about exam security. The procedures awaiting you on exam day are:
ID Check
A valid passport or official ID document (some exams require two forms of ID).
Security Screening
Before entering the exam room you may be searched with a metal detector, and accessories such as glasses may be inspected.
Lockers
You cannot take personal belongings such as your phone, watch, wallet or even water into the exam room; they stay in the locker assigned to you.
Camera Monitoring
Throughout the exam every candidate is monitored by cameras and in-person proctors.
3. Registration and Fees
Registration is done directly on Prometric’s own website (prometric.com) or on the website of the institution that owns the exam (for example ETS or ECFMG). Fees vary widely, from $150 to $1000+, depending on the type and length of the exam you take.
